Stiftung Warentest: Image weighted most among TV sets 

In order to be able to compare the TV sets, the experts at Stiftung Warentest tested them in different categories. The image category was weighted the most in the test . This accounts for 40 percent of the respective overall grade. In addition to the pure eye test, the image behavior during fast movements was also examined here.

How colors and contrasts changed in different viewing angles was also part of this test category in the Stiftung Warentest test . The eye test itself was carried out with dimmed light, but it was also tested whether the TV sets are well suited for bright environments.

In the test of Stiftung Warentest , the last 20 percent was in equal parts to the categories versatility and environmental properties. When assessing the environmental properties, the power consumption of the TV sets was measured and evaluated. And both in standby mode and during the eye test. Of the eight with very well-rated TV equipments in the test of Stiftung Warentest  were six of the brand LG , including the LG OLED65C97LA 65 inches (of advertising link), and two of the brand Samsung . The main difference between the models was in the picture category. Here, the devices from LG were better suited for operation in a bright environment than the competitor Samsung , which is why the two Samsung models were only awarded a grade in this subcategory. In the test database of Stiftung Warentest, only two of the total of 506 TV sets performed poorly. The currently unavailable TV sets both achieved a poor result of 5.5 in the Sound category. The Live 24C from Dyon also only got a poor result in the environmental properties category with a grade of 4.6. The reason for this is the environmentally harmful flame retardant decabromobiphenyl ether, which was used in the TV housing. 

In the test by Stiftung Warentest , the instruction manual for the LEDW22 from Reflexion was  only rated as sufficient, making it worse in the handling category with a rating of only 4.0 than the Live 24C, which achieved a rating of 3.4 here . The two bottom lights of the TV equipment database both had their first online appearance in 2018.

Stiftung Warentest: The best TV sets under 500 euros
