Homemade bread * tastes wonderful and you should give it a try. A very simple variant is this plucked bread (also called pull-apart bread), which makes your mouth water with lots of garlic, herbs and cheese .

Recipe for plucked bread: You need these ingredients

  • 1 cube (42 g) of yeast 
  • 500 g spelled flour (type 630)
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil 
  • 4 cloves of garlic 
  • 1 bunch of flat-leaf parsley 
  • 1⁄2 bunch of rosemary and thyme 
  • 100 g soft butter, plus a little extra
  • 150 g mozzarella and spicy cheese in one piece (e.g. cheddar or mountain cheese)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar 
  • some flour for the work surface 
  • coarse sea salt

How to bake the plucked bread

  • Crumble the yeast * in 100 ml of lukewarm water and stir in a tablespoon of sugar. Cover the container and wait until the mixture begins to bubble.
  • Then mix the flour with a teaspoon of salt and add the yeast water, 250 ml of water and the olive oil.
  • Knead everything into a smooth dough, which you can leave covered with a clean tea towel for about an hour in a warm place.
  • Peel the cloves of garlic and chop them very finely.
  • Pluck the leaves and needles of thyme and rosemary and chop them finely as well.
  • Stir the garlic and herbs into the soft butter .
  • Grate or chop the two types of cheese.
  • Knead the yeast dough * again on a floured work surface and then roll it out into a square (approx. 50x50 cm).
  • Brush the dough sheet with the garlic and herb butter and then sprinkle the cheese evenly on top.
  • Cut the dough sheet into 6 strips and place three slices on top of each other, with the top strip lying with the butter side down.
  • Then cut these two stacks of three into six even pieces.
  • Preheat your oven to 200 degrees air circulation.
  • Grease a box mold well, stand up and then stack the dough pieces on top of each other .
  • Sprinkle the whole thing with coarse sea salt and let it go again for about 30 minutes.
  • Then bake in the oven for about 35 minutes, then let it cool for a quarter of an hour and take it out of the mold.
  • Ready to enjoy.
