Despite the health crisis imposing physical distancing, kissing resumed on the set, said the Minister of Culture on RTL.

Will the languid kisses on the big screen survive the covid? A fundamental question that everyone asked in these troubled times of the pandemic.

The Minister of Culture, Franck Riester, assured Friday that the kiss of cinema was " not over ", despite the health crisis imposing physical distancing, and that some had even started again on the set.

" No, " the movie kiss " is not over, " he said on RTL, as film and series shoots resumed after weeks of stoppage due to the confinement.

" There are kisses that start again on the set " where " artists have tested themselves (with the coronavirus, Editor's note) , waited a little, and made that kiss which is so important in the cinema ", he underlined .

Regarding these intimate scenes, several options presented themselves. The CCHSCT of cinematographic production developed, at the end of May, a " guide of recommendations " recommending in particular modifications such as the rewriting of the scenario, a change of plan or the digital inserts to avoid the least danger.

Shooting conditions deemed inept by some, like Marina Fois. Invited Wednesday June 10 on the set of Doc Stupéfiant dedicated to "Culture déconfinée", the actress expressed a very clear opinion on the subject. Concerning the possibility for the actors to refuse or not to kiss their partner on the screen in order to respect social distancing, his words are without appeal.

So the insurance companies will have an opinion on how we make a film. [...] They say not to kiss, it is the maximum, but it is also a safety distance , denounces Marina Foïs . But it won't work. Very concretely we are going to repeat a scene saying to me " You must not approach more than 1.5 meters from Valeria Bruni Tedeschi " with whom I will shoot at the start of the school year ". Before adding: "If I want to play well, I have to give up something and let it happen. So I will not respect it. "

In addition to the question of the cinematic kiss, Franck Riester recalled the establishment of a compensation fund of 50 million euros to allow the resumption of filming, funded by the State and operational since June 1.

Active until the end of 2020, this fund will cover the cost of temporarily stopping (or even definitively in some cases) shooting, due to an isolated case of Covid-19 at the production site.
