(ANSA) - PIACENZA - After the request for the establishment of the 'District of the Piacenza DOP Salami', forwarded by the local Consortium to the Department of Agriculture of Emilia-Romagna, in recent days the recognition that represents the first arrived 'Food District' recognized by the Region, and the only District for PDO cured meats included in the list of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies.
The Districts, according to national law, are realities closely linked to the territory with a homogeneous historical identity resulting from the integration between agricultural activities and local activities, as well as the production of goods or services of particular specificity, consistent with traditions and vocations natural and local.
"This additional tool available to the Consortium - explains the president Antonio Grossetti - will finally allow to concretely pursue the establishment of a production chain connected to the DOP cured meats throughout Piacenza, for which the Consortium has been working for years to achieve it".
