The 2021 edition of the Golden Globes will take place on February 28, while the Globes are usually held in January to kick off the film awards season, its organizers announced on Monday. The ceremony was scheduled for January 5.

The Globes will therefore take place during the weekend initially scheduled for the Oscars, which themselves have been postponed and will be held on April 25, the film industry and Hollywood having been totally disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, which has emptied movie theaters for about three months.

"To accommodate both national and international film and television productions, the HFPA will provide additional advice on eligibility, voting period and the revised appointment announcement calendar in the coming weeks," said organizers.
