"What we did to the good Lord" 3: 40 years of marriage at the heart of the intrigue

2020-06-24T18:01:41.469Z

"What have we all done to the good Lord", the third film in the saga, will start shooting in the spring for a release on October 13, 2021.

Certainly, these Verneuil have a sense of celebration. In the third installment of "What have we done to the good Lord?" », Whose script has just been completed, the plot will again revolve around a large family reunion. No question of marriage this time (as in the first two parts), but… of a wedding anniversary, because the four daughters of the Verneuil couple are going to organize a big surprise party for the 40th anniversary of their parents' union in their house in Chinon, in Indre-et-Loire. And for these emerald weddings, each will invite their parents-in-law ... Which will cause some disasters in stunts.

If the spectators already know the Senegalese parents of Charles (the Koffi), they will be able to discover those of David, Rachid and Chao, who will come from Israel, Algeria and China respectively. New actors will join the troop of "What have we done to the good Lord?" "And" What have we done to God again? " Among the latter, all the actors will resume their roles, from the parents Verneuil (Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby) to the sons-in-law (Ary Abittan, Medi Sadoun, Frédéric Chau and Noom Diawara) including the girls (Frédérique Bel, Julia Piaton, Emilie Can and Elodie Fontan).

A shoot postponed because of the Covid-19

"Everyone has a great desire to meet, especially Christian, who adores his character of Claude Verneuil and adores filming with Chantal", rejoices Philippe de Chauveron, again at the helm of this third opus entitled "What have we all done to God? The shooting of the feature film was due to start in September, but the health crisis forced the film crew to shift its schedule. "We will be totally ready to shoot in Chinon next spring," says Philippe de Chauveron, who is still co-signing the script and the dialogues of the comedy with Guy Laurent. This third part has in any case already a release date: October 13, 2021.

"It will be just before the All Saints holidays," enthuses the successful director. Who recalls that "What have we done to the good Lord?" "Was released in theaters before the Easter holidays and" What have we done to God? Before those of February. School holidays have so far brought luck to Claude Verneuil, his wife Marie and their mixed-race offspring: the first film, released in 2014, had been viewed by 12.2 million spectators and the second, in 2019, by 6.7 million.

"What have we done to God again?" Was the first French film at the box office in 2019 and should have won the César du public at the end of February ... If the Académie des César had not changed the rules a few weeks before the ceremony, as Philippe de Chauveron had deplored in our columns. Even without a statuette, the filmmaker will once again run “his” Verneuil happily and choose the new parents-in-law from the start of the school year.
