Passionate about the prancing horse brand for a long time, the director of Heat and Collateral chose the Australian star of Logan to recount a crucial episode in the life of the Italian automaker.

It's not for nothing that director Michael Mann has been interested in the streamlined chassis of beautiful Italians since the 1980s. The creator of the cult series Two cops in Miami , who had put Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) at the wheel of a Ferrari Testarossa, has been following its passion for flamboyant red racing cars for several decades.

After having worked for ten years on the script of the film telling of the fierce rivalry between the car manufacturers Ford and Ferrari, the director-producer of Heat and Collateral had finally decided to entrust the project to James Mangold ( Logan ), who did Le Mans 66, with Matt Damon and Christian Bale.

Was it just being the executive producer of Le Mans 66 that frustrated the director of Public enemies? The fact remains that at the venerable age of 77, Michael Mann returned to the forefront of the Hollywood scene. Five years after making his last film Hacker , the American filmmaker will make a film about the legendary Italian manufacturer Enzo Ferrari.

According to the specialized site Variety , the film soberly titled Ferrari should soon see the light of day. It is the Australian actor Hugh Jackman who is currently in talks with the studio STX to embody the manufacturer of the brand with the prancing horse.

Based on Brock Yates' book, Enzo Ferrari - Man and Machine , this biopic will mainly focus on a specific year in the life of "Il Commandatore": 1957.

This is indeed a pivotal year for more than one reason for the Italian automaker. Not only did his marriage to his wife Laura build up his wings, but his son Dino Ferrari died victim of viral nephritis. The film tells how "Il Commandatore" regains control of its destiny and tries to put its stable of scarlet cars afloat, by wanting that Ferrari returns to victory in the perilous race "Mille Miglia", the Italian equivalent of the 24 hours of Le Mans.

"An epic cinematic experience"

According to a press release from STX Studios: "During this terribly dangerous race, Laura Ferrari will discover old well-kept secrets, opportunities will multiply, and drivers, like surrogate threads, will be able to push the limits. "

As for Michael Mann, like the old lion out of his den, he seems to have all the confidence of STX Studios to tell this story, as if it were a mafia film. The proof? In the rest of the press release, the text specifies that Mann "will bring all his passion and knowledge of the dangerous world of the automobile of the 1950s, in order to create an epic cinematic experience. "

We hope to roar with pleasure ...
