You have to believe that a man who survived the dantesque filming of Apocalypse Nowis no longer afraid of much. The Italian Vittorio Storaro, director of photography for the masterpiece of Francis Ford Coppola, winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1979, did not hesitate, on March 11, to board one of the last planes to France. It responded to the invitation of the Festival 2 Cinéma de Valenciennes (North), which devoted a retrospective and an exhibition to one of the greatest active cinematographers, collaborator of Bernardo Bertolucci, Francis Ford Coppola, Carlos Saura or Woody Allen, three times Oscar winner. The Covid-19 spoiled the party. The demonstration was cut short on March 12 and Vittorio Storaro returned to confine himself to Rome. Good news, the virus has not had the skin of the octogenarian - it is blowing out its 80 candles this Wednesday, June 24.
