"Forbidden Hollywood"
Before 1934, date of implementation of the Hays Code, which banned nudity and established a list of subjects "to avoid" - adultery, violence, amorality ... - in the production of films in Hollywood, directors and actors took advantage of golden age to release films evoking, among other things, crime, sexuality, the emancipation of women. Films which were later banned in theaters.
The Warner studio stands out in theaters ten of these so-called “pre-code” films, some of which were never released in theaters, which existed on DVD in the “Forbidden Hollywood” collection. They are all of an excellent standard and allow you to discover nuggets like "Female", and even masterpieces like "Baby Face". All of them reverse the balance of power between men and women, showing an astonishing feminism before the time. And they display stars of the time at their casting, such as Barbara Stanwick, Jean Harlow, Clark Gable or James Cagney.
