TIVOLI - From a classic of popular humor such as Totò Truffa 62 to a super-intellectual cult such as the Belly of the architect by Peter Greenaway. Villa Adriana celebrates 20 years since the inclusion of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites (1999-2019) and offers its visitors a reflection on the happy relationship of the archaeological site with cinema and TV, to which it has offered extraordinary sets over the years , from Allonsanfan of the Taviani brothers (it was 1974) to the second series of Elisa di Rivombrosa (2006) up to I Medici (2016). The occasion is a free exhibition which opens on 10 July, curated by the director of the Villa Adriana Villa d'Este Institute Andrea Bruciati and Francesca Roncoroni.

The idea, explains director Bruciati, is to tell how around the sixties, grappling with a new generation of audiences, with the genesis of new themes, places and forms of the story, cinema found in Villa Adriana a set of 'excellence. Just in those boom years, on the other hand, the site had recently been the subject of an archaeological rediscovery and had become an industrious site of study, restoration and important museum projects, not only to repair the damage caused by the Second World War , but also to significantly improve its cultural offer, turning to increasingly broad tourism. Photographs and multimedia panels, set up in the reception center of the archaeological site, therefore offer the visitor (and even the Chinese public, hoping there may be) "a selection of visual suggestions from Italian and foreign films, whose sound is in the original language for the purpose to underline the internationality of the productions ". A work, underlines Bruciati, "very current, in a moment of re-appropriation of identity of places and free time".

Organized by Villae and supported by Service I of the General Secretariat of Mibact, the exhibition will remain open to the public until 30 September. The scientific committee is made up of Andrea Bruciati, Benedetta Adembri, Viviana Carbonara and Francesca Roncoroni.
