It is the end of a long battle of more than two years. The widow of Johnny Hallyday, Laeticia Hallyday, and his daughter-in-law, Laura Smet, announce Friday that they have reached an agreement on the distribution of the inheritance of the singer who died in 2017.
"A final agreement was reached with Laura Smet, who grabbed the hand extended by Laeticia Hallyday," said the widow's lawyer in a statement, without specifying the details of the agreement.
Shortly after the death of Johnny Hallyday, Laura Smet, disinherited by her father, launched into a heated legal fight against her mother-in-law. During the winter of 2019, Laeticia Hallyday had notably announced that she wanted to end the conflict. It is now done, according to his lawyer.
The situation "could not last any longer"
"Aware that the situation born from the questioning of these decisions could not last any longer, Laeticia expressed the wish to reach an agreement with the elders (Laura Smet and David Hallyday, Editor's note) of her husband. The peace demanded by mourning is at stake, as well as the serenity which must live in each family, "the press release continued.
"Johnny Hallyday, who died two and a half years ago, had made specific and protective property arrangements for his wife and two minor children in 2014. His wife Laeticia has always been faithful to his choices and respectful of the commitments she had made with her husband, ”adds Gilles Gauer.
