Health ministers from both districts are cautious with the statements. But the contagion gap between one place and another widens every day.

The return to a strict quarantine, due to the advance of coronavirus cases, imposed an acronym that we were not so used to: AMBA. It is that the metropolitan area, that is, the sum of the City and Greater Buenos Aires, go hand in hand in the return to phase 1. However, several recent statements raised a concern: Could they be separated from 17 July?

"It is an extremely long quarantine, of course the people can't take it anymore and we are doing everything necessary so that from 18 we can change it, " the Buenos Aires health minister, Fernán Quirós, said Sunday in dialogue with Miter radio.

In making decisions, Quirós takes into account the R index, which measures contagiousness. This is how he explains it: “of a patient today, how many people get sick tomorrow”.

“The City's R index was at 1.1 and now it is at 1.05. It is slowly starting to descend. So we have the expectation that we can get below 1 (when the strict quarantine ends). And whenever one has an R below 1 it means that every new day there are fewer new cases. With which, one can begin to retrace the steps we were taking, "he said.

In the City there are 31,443 accumulated cases of coronavirus, 603 people died, and the case fatality rate is 1.92%. Regarding daily cases, "our curve is stabilizing", Quirós celebrated on Monday morning, at a press conference, when most of the questions revolved around the same topic: Is the City planning a different quarantine than that of the Greater Buenos Aires?

"The Buenos Aires metropolitan area (AMBA) is an interdependent urban conglomerate," Quirós replied, although he acknowledged that "beyond having a comprehensive strategy, we have always made decisions independently or partially ." And he gave several examples: in the City, neighborhood trade, children's walking, and night sports activities were prioritized.

“We insist that the implementation of the policies is adapted to the needs and local reality of each one of us in this same region. And that's how it will continue to be, surely ”, closed the Buenos Aires official.

Another point of view has the Buenos Aires minister of health, Daniel Gollan. He believes that " it would not be desirable " that the City and Greater Buenos Aires enter different phases and that the strategies that they have together have decoupled.

"It would not be desirable because the AMBA is an epidemiological unit, which we cannot separate . It is like I said: 'in the municipality of Ituzaingó I have the most controlled situation, so I do a phase, and AMBA is on the map'. The truth is that it is difficult, because the exchange of that municipality and all those around it is continuous, ”he said in dialogue with Radio Con Vos.

“We say that the great conglomerate of 15 million people living together, who come and go, with a huge huge exchange. Ideally, as we are doing now, take the measures together . That is what we think ”, remarked the minister.

"Those who came from abroad, most entered through the Federal Capital, and then they ran to the popular neighborhoods, and then to the first cord (of Greater Buenos Aires), and then to the second cord, as we are already seeing. Like an oil slick, when you do the animation. That then comes back like a tsunami. What goes to the second cord, then returns to the Capital. Because the interaction is permanent, ”continued Gollan.

But the one who went further was his deputy minister, Nicolás Kreplak. "To project an opening of the quarantine in the AMBA would be to pose an irrational or fanatic situation that we do not share, since with the cases of COVID-19 that we see increasing daily we could not be talking about a relaxation of isolation," he said in statements. to the press.

As happened during the past week, this Sunday the Province of Buenos Aires doubled the number of cases in the City. While in Buenos Aires territory 1,564 infected were registered; in CABA they reported 767.

In the Province, positive cases of coronavirus totaled 39,974. 227 cases are registered for every 100,000 inhabitants. And 696 people died since the arrival of the pandemic in the country, last March.

So far, the places with the most confirmed cases of coronavirus in Argentina are the Province of Buenos Aires, Capital Federal, Chaco, Río Negro, Córdoba and Santa Fe.
