Ocean Viking anchored outside Porto Empedocle, as per indications received from the Harbor Master's Office. To date, informs the NGO Sos Mediterranee, "we have had no instructions on how and when the landing will take place" of the migrants rescued.
The Ocean Viking - with 180 migrants rescued on board in international waters - arrived in the harbor of Porto Empedocle (Agrigento) just before 5 o'clock. Transhipment on the quarantine ship Moby Zazà will take place, if there are no last minute directives by the Interior Ministry, directly in the harbor. In fact, no "safe harbor" has been assigned to the ship. The ship, by order of the harbor master's office, is therefore stopped in the harbor in front of the port. And in the harbor there is also the Moby Zazà and the ship of another NGO: the Sea Watch3. Instead, the results of the Covid 19 swabs to which the migrants were subjected yesterday will arrive later and the transhipment will take place only after the test results arrive: probably in the afternoon.
The outcome of the double anti-Covid check buffer has arrived. 169 migrants, guests of the Moby Zazà where they carried out the health surveillance, who will be disembarked and transferred to other structures by late morning. In the wheel, the bridges of the quarantine ship where these people were placed will have to be sanitized before they can embark the 180 migrants of Ocean Viking. On Moby Zazà, after the disembarkation of the 169 migrants and before the embarkation of the 180, 42 people will remain, of whom 30 infected by Covid are on deck number 7: the so-called "red zone".
