This Tuesday, 538 Covid-19 patients are still being treated in the intensive care units of French hospitals.

While the number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Europe has exceeded the 200,000 threshold, the number of deaths is approaching 30,000 in France. According to the latest assessment communicated by the Directorate General of Health (DGS) on Tuesday, 13 new deaths linked to the Covid-19 epidemic have been counted. Since the beginning of March, a total of 29,933 people have died after being infected with SARS-CoV-2.

Among these victims, 19,457 people died in hospitals. To this figure is added that of coronavirus-related deaths in nursing homes and medico-social centers. The DGS recorded there on Tuesday 10,476 deaths related to the coronavirus, against 10,497 a week ago. The difference is explained by the fact that these 21 additional deaths are now counted among those recorded in hospitals.

In the hospitalization report, 7,594 people remain in care in French establishments. In the past 24 hours, 127 new patients have been admitted. Among the hospitalized patients, 538 present a serious form of the disease which requires care in the intensive care units. 21 new serious cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours. The balance, which takes discharges into account, remains negative over the same period of time, with 10 fewer patients in intensive care.
