It takes 30 seconds to produce a PlayStation. This is made possible by a highly automated factory that Sony owns in Tokyo Bay, Japan, which thanks to dozens of robots manages to churn out two game consoles per minute without the need for many workers in the flesh.
As told by the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, the factory has a production line of about thirty meters dedicated to assembling PlayStation 4. Only four people work on it: two add the motherboard and two others insert the finished console in the package.
The rest of the work is done by 32 robots, each dedicated to a specific task. Most (26) are in charge of connecting wires, tapes and other flexible parts. The flexible flat cable of the console, for example, is connected to one robotic arm that holds it to another that twists it in a precise direction and force.
