On July 13, 1970, fifty years ago, the first meeting of the Puglia Regional Council was held.
This half century of history will be told with a series of initiatives: an exhibition with photos, documents and videos set up in the atrium of the new Council building, a cycle of seminars in schools and universities in the region and the publication of a volume. Thanks to the research project "History of the Regional Council of Puglia", as part of a collaboration with the Gramsci di Puglia Foundation, a large part of the content at the base of the exhibition was collected which will be inaugurated on the symbolic date of July 13 in the new headquarters in via Gentile. Twenty-two photographic panels and a video will recount the "50 years of the Puglia Regional Council" in an exhibition itinerary with the photos of the iconographic archive of the Regional Council and articles from local periodicals that trace the ten legislatures from the seventies to today. A catalog of the exhibition has also been created, edited by Sfera edizioni, available in digital format, downloadable for free on the Teca del Mediterraneo website, the library of the Puglia Regional Council.
All the initiatives for the fiftieth anniversary of the Regional Council will also be marked by a logo, designed for the occasion, depicting the number 50: the blue 5, a color that is also on the coat of arms of the Region, recalls the sea that surrounds our coasts, place meeting and exchange with populations bordering the Mediterranean. The number zero has been segmented, recalling the plan of the new seat of the regional council of Puglia and inside there is the emblem of the region. The presentation of the initiatives for the fiftieth anniversary of the Regional Council was attended by the president Mario Loizzo, the two vice-presidents Giuseppe Longo and Giacomo Diego Gatta and the secretaries of the bureau Giuseppe Turco and Luigi Morgante. "We wanted to tell the story of the Puglia Region retrace the most significant moments of these 50 years - said President Loizzo - and also recalling the attempt we made as bureau to structure a political-cultural profile. Now the main challenge that we have before us is to pull our economic-productive system out of the dramatic situation created with the health emergency ".
