Facundo Gabriel Sandoval Luque, 25, died after a car crossed the lane, struck him and fled in the area of Las Quintas, La Plata. Security cameras recorded the accident and the culprit was arrested shortly afterwards at his home.
The incident happened at 3.10 on Saturday, when Luque returned home on board his Honda Titán motorcycle after having finished the working day at Frigoríficos Gorina. It was on 137th street (double hand), between 523 and 524, where he was hit by Matías Emanuel Veiga.
The 34-year-old man, who was driving a Volkswagen Golf, unexpectedly crossed the lane, struck Luque head-on and fled . Minutes after the collision, the victim was found dead on the ground by other drivers who passed by and called the police.
Thanks to the security cameras located in the area, the sequence was recorded and the culprit was arrested shortly afterwards at his home , where the vehicle was located with impact marks on the left front.
The cover is framed in wrongful death and the investigation, which was initially carried out by the Prosecutor on Duty No. 07 Dra. Virginia Bravo, was referred to Prosecutor 10 of Carlos Vercellone, specialized in wrongful crimes.
"It is clear that the driver crossed the lane. I do not know if he wanted to turn to another street or was directly distracted. The issue is that he did not call anyone and until they attended him, a long time passed. Perhaps he could even have saved his life" , said Christian Parodi, one of the lawyers representing the family as a victim, in dialogue with 0221.
"Facundo Sandoval was a very calm boy, very calm and that he drove slowly. It wasn't Willy or anything like that and you can see in the video that he was going at a very different speed than the car," he added.
