Coronavirus in France: 25 new deaths, more than 30,000 dead since the start of the epidemic

In France, "the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 is increasing", warns this Friday Public Health France, calling on citizens not to relax in terms of barrier gestures. Because if the trend remains down, the overall toll of the victims of Covid-19 still exceeds 30,000 on the eve of this long weekend of July 14.

Indeed, according to the latest press release from the Directorate General of Health (DGS), 25 new deaths are to be deplored this Friday, bringing to 30,004 the total number of deaths in France since the start of the epidemic.

Among these victims, 19,528 people died in hospitals and 10,476 died in social and medico-social establishments. For the latter, the figures will be updated on July 15.

The balance remains negative in intensive care

In addition, 7,062 people were hospitalized because of the Covid-19 and 136 new admissions were recorded in 24 hours. Nine new serious cases were admitted to intensive care. The balance remains negative, with 12 fewer patients compared to Wednesday, and 496 patients are currently in intensive care.

Four regions (Île-de-France, Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France and Guyana) still account for 70% of patients hospitalized in intensive care.

The health authorities are vigilant with the clusters which always appear the territory. In particular, a massive screening plan was launched in Mayenne after an abnormal increase in the circulation of the virus in the department was noted.
