A carpenter commissioned by the Indian NGO World Peace Organization makes agglomerated coffins for victims of the coronavirus and gives them free to families who cannot afford to buy them.
“We planned to make coffins similar to those available on the market, but at a lower price. So we called in a carpenter and other workers, and we were finally able to make coffins for 2,700 rupees ($ 32) per coffin, "said Maulana Shaheen Qasmi, secretary general of the World Peace Organization.
With more than 20,000 dead, India is the eighth country in the world most affected by the number of victims of Covid19.
The pandemic has killed at least 555,036 people worldwide since late December.
