(ANSA) - ATHENS, JULY 10 - Nine people were arrested last night in Athens during a protest against a new law on the demonstrations in Greece: the police launched tear gas and charged to disperse the demonstrators after a group of masked young people launched incendiary bottles against the agents. Six policemen were wounded.
The main opposition party, Syriza, denounced an excessive use of force by the police against a protest that he called largely peaceful.
The new law, currently being examined by Parliament, provides the other less space in the street for minor protests and gives the police the power to ban certain gatherings - including counter-protests - for security reasons. (HANDLE).
