The meeting of a group of supporters of President Donald Trump , who will compete for his second term in the next elections, which was organized by Joe Michael Pérez and which was called to take place at the site where the statue of the singer Selena is. Quintanilla in Corpus Christi, Texas, was banned by authorities.
Since last June, Michael Pérez shared a photo on his social networks in which the statue of the singer with a red baseball cap is seen, engraved with the slogan of the last campaign of Donald Trump, "Make America Great Again "
In addition to the image, the man began using the phrase "Bidi Bidi Trump Trump" to promote the candidacy of the US president, referring to the song "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" by Selena, which was very popular.
This fact caused great discomfort in Abraham Quintanilla , father of the singer who was murdered in 1995, who demanded that Joe Michael Pérez stop using the image of his daughter for proselytizing purposes.
According to Forbes , Abraham sent a letter to Pérez in which he mentions, "The Quintanilla family has never associated Selena with partisan policies to preserve her legacy." The letter also reads, "This individual has appropriated Selena's name, image, and things, including the use of merchandise and clothing representing Selena, to make himself seen as important, without seeking, let alone obtaining, the support of the Quintanilla ".
The letter, which was sent by the law firm Singh, Singh & Trauben, LLP, includes the legal terms "cease" and "desist" about the event organized by Joe Michael, and further explain that they are not against the freedom of Nobody's expression or meeting and they just ask that the meeting be held somewhere else.
Finally, the Corpus Christi authorities reported that the political event that was to take place on July 11, was suspended, but not because of requests from the Quintanilla family.

The TMZ portal collected the statements of Shelly Rios , the manager of the Corpus Christi cultural services and special events program, who said that Pérez would normally have obtained a permit for a spontaneous show of support for his public event, but that this was rejected, although not for political or legal reasons.
Rios explained that for now in Corpus Christi and generally throughout the state of Texas, gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so if Joe Michael Pérez and his entourage, which is supposed to be of 150 individuals, congregate at the place where the statue of Selena is, the police would approach them and ask them to leave the place.
The aforementioned media mentions that, despite these warnings, Michael Pérez will hold the meeting and that, if the authorities approach them, they will tell them that they are there peacefully and will not withdraw.
