(ANSA) - BAMAKO, JULY 12 - The Malian government has arrested several political leaders after yesterday's demonstration against President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita followed by an attempt to raid state television and a harsh response from the security forces that opened fire in the capital Bamako, where tension remains high. The toll is at least four deaths and dozens injured.
Security forces then forcibly entered the home of another movement leader, Sy Kadiatou Sow, but were unable to find him, said a family member who asked not to be named. Meanwhile, the city, in the grip of jihadist and intra-community violence, continues to be a theater of clashes, intensified with the evening.
