(ANSA) - BOLOGNA, JULY 12 - The new hearing was held today on the renewal of the pre-trial detention of Patrick Zaky, the Egyptian student of the University of Bologna, in prison in Egypt since early February. According to reports from the 'Patrick free' Facebook page, updated by people close to the youth, the hearing was held before the Court, without Patrick's presence, but in front of his lawyers for the first time in weeks. His lawyers filed a memo on the reasons why the defense is demanding his release. He is awaiting a decision by tomorrow morning. For Zaky, accused of crimes of opinion and currently imprisoning in Cairo, it is yet another hearing on the extension of the detention. In recent days he had delivered a letter to his family explaining that he was in good health.
