UNITED STATES - The United States, the country most affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the world, registered 59,747 new infections in 24 hours yesterday, according to the Johns Hopkins University daily report. The number of confirmed cases is 3,301,820 and the number of deaths is 135,171 (442 more in 24 hours).

MEXICO - Mexico has become the country in the world with the fourth highest death toll since Covid-19, ahead of Italy, according to Mexican health officials. "There are 299,750 confirmed cases of infection and 35,006 deaths in Mexico," reads the Mexican presidency's Twitter account.

PAKISTAN - In Pakistan the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has risen to 251,625, with 2,769 new infections in the past 24 hours. The country's ministry of health has announced that 69 people have died in the past 24 hours, as it brings the death toll to 5,266. 5,217 people recovered in the same period, for a total of 161,917 patients. There are currently 1,837 critically ill patients, 281 fewer than the day before.

AUSTRALIA - Domestic violence cases during the coronavirus crisis surge in Australia. According to research from the Australian Institute of Criminology, 4.6% of all women and 8.8% of women in a relationship experienced physical or sexual violence from a partner between February and May. The survey of 15 thousand women was conducted in May. For 33% of respondents, it was the first time in the report. Two thirds of the victims report that the attacks started and worsened during the pandemic.
