ROME - From the first rural summer centers for children to agri-hospices, to orthotherapy and pet therapy. To support families in difficulty, the elderly, children, the disabled and the most disadvantaged sections of the population overwhelmed by the crisis generated by the coronavirus emergency, the first national network of Coldiretti social farms takes the field to offer new eco-welfare services in the countryside where in the open air it is easier to respect the distance and less the risks of contagion. This is what emerges from the first report by Coldiretti dedicated to "True social agriculture is good for Italy" presented in Rome in the presence of the president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini and the minister of agricultural policies Teresa Bellanova. Along the whole peninsula there are about 9 thousand farms engaged in social work with an increase of 7 times since 2013 which can offer today a value of health and educational services that has reached one billion euros, according to Coldiretti estimates.

"In the last year - explains Coldiretti - over 40 thousand families have benefited from the services born thanks to the social commitment of farmers with actions of aid and support to motor and cognitive disabled people, people with autism, prisoners and ex-prisoners, minors disadvantaged or with learning difficulties, to women victims of abuse, to the elderly, to people with relationship problems or with addictions to the unemployed and foreigners ". According to Coldiretti, "a transversal national collective crisis for demography and unprecedented work since post-war times" is underway. "Thanks to farmers, projects are offered that offer quality services to disadvantaged people with integration and training courses that often result in employment contracts that restore dignity and future trajectories" concludes the president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini.
