Preventive seizures for 30 million and precautionary measures for 16 people: these are the main numbers of the Reste operation with which the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Milan, together with colleagues from the provinces of Caserta, Turin and Isernia who are executing the measures issued by the GIP of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere on a proposal from the Public Prosecutor against a gang accused of selling fake RCA cars via the web.
The charges are of criminal association aimed at the commission of aggravated fraud, money laundering and self-laundering, fraudulent transfer of values, abusive exercise of insurance business and insurance brokerage and use of counterfeit brands and signs.
The investigations started in 2017 when complaints arrived from primary insurance groups complaining of the marketing of fake RCA insurance policies with their brand. The Milan Investigation Unit has launched a structured investigation, initially with the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, from which it was understood that the criminal organization was based in the Agro Aversano area. And therefore from 2018 the investigation passed to the Prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
According to the surveys, the band was active at least since 2012 mainly in the municipalities of Villa Literno, Cancello and Arnone and Castel Volturno counterfeiting and selling through many dozen websites of fake insurance intermediaries of temporary, half-yearly and annual RCA insurance policies.
During the operations, a preventive seizure of goods was carried out, for a total value of 30 million euros, and relating to: 2 slot and betting rooms, 18 car resale companies, 1 clothing trade company, 1 clothing store , 1 property, 3 land, 1 motorboat, numerous luxury cars, as well as numerous financial reports.
