Argentina exceeded 2,000 deaths from coronavirus on Wednesday . It was only four months after having detected the first case in the country and just 24 days after reaching 1,000 deaths.

In its reports for the day, the Ministry of Health of the Nation registered 82 fatalities , a record for one day, so the total number of deaths climbed to 2,050.

Furthermore, in the last 24 hours, 4,250 positive cases were detected, the highest number for one day. Most belonged to the Province and City of Buenos Aires. Since the start of the pandemic, both districts have added 102,117 of the 111,160 infections throughout the country.

In the morning, the health portfolio reported the deaths of 12 men and 7 women , with an age range of 57 to 87 years. Eleven of those deaths were registered in the Province, four in the City, three in Río Negro and one in Neuquén.

Later, 63 other deaths were added: 42 men (twenty from PBA, 17 from the Federal Capital, two from Río Negro, three from Entre Ríos and one from Santa Fe), and 20 women (eleven from the Province, seven from CABA, one of Santa Fe and one of Entre Rios).

Thus, the mortality rate is 43.4 people per million inhabitants and the case fatality rate of 1.8% on confirmed cases. The average age of fatalities is 75 years.

According to official information, 11,266 new samples were made on Tuesday and 495,065 diagnostic tests for this disease were carried out since the outbreak began, which is equivalent to 10,910 samples per million inhabitants.

The Secretary of Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti , warned of the emergence of "outbreaks" in departments that had not reported cases due to "internal migrations" enabled in the areas where the Preventive and Mandatory Social Distance (DISPO) governs.

In addition, he insisted on the need to reinforce "intergenerational solidarity", since the median age of those infected is 37 years.

In this sense, he reiterated that "those who are more active and are more exposed to the virus" are young people, who unless they have a risky condition, have less chance of complicating themselves and requiring hospitalization. But they are the ones who can transmit the virus to those who, due to their age, may need intensive care and die.
