A family barbecue where at least 27 people participated unleashed an outbreak of coronavirus in the small town of Dina Huapi, next to San Carlos de Bariloche. The meeting would have occurred earlier this month. Specialists estimate that one of the guests, from Bariloche, was infected with the virus .

Between Thursday and Friday, 13 of the attendees were diagnosed as positive because they are isolated in a hotel in Bariloche. The remaining 14 remain in their homes, together with their families, still without symptoms. It was also learned that most of the participants in the meeting are young people .

The town of about 6,000 thousand inhabitants, located 17 kilometers from Bariloche, had not registered infections for 15 days before the current outbreak. The absence of cases had prompted the authorities to relax some quarantine measures. Meetings of up to 10 people were allowed.

It has been confirmed that everyone who attended is part of the same family. "We can't say if it was a barbecue, I don't know where it came from, it was a family gathering, " Monica Balseiro, Dina Huapi's mayor, tells Clarín . "Meetings of up to 10 people were allowed, now we have banned them again and we are like Bariloche," he adds. The official did not rule out that in the next few hours new cases related to this meeting will appear.

According to reports, a family held a celebration in Dina Huapi and one of the guests traveled especially from Bariloche. Days later, this person manifested symptoms, such as a sore throat, and was diagnosed as a carrier of the virus. From that moment, those who attended approached the Zonal Ramón Carrillo hospital in Bariloche to perform the swab. None of them had developed signs of being infected, it was reported from the municipality of Dina Huapi.

The ban on holding meetings became effective this Saturday. “Dina Huapi, after weeks without assets, presents 13 positive cases, originated within the framework of a social gathering that, although it was allowed, due to the excess of people, exceeding the maximum allowed of ten, with the participation of people from Another locality has generated a re- emergence of the virus and the potential danger of local circulation, "indicates a municipal resolution. "Although all the protocols to isolate active cases and avoid infections have been implemented from the IV Public Health sanitary zone, it is necessary to take restrictive measures in order to avoid similar situations in the future," she adds.

"In the framework of social, preventive and compulsory distancing, the authorization of social gatherings must be rescinded, prohibiting them accordingly (...) until the epidemiological situation in our town is stable, without active cases, and complying with the parameters arranged at national and provincial level ”, he concludes.

The last health report indicates that Bariloche has 59 active cases, Dina Huapi 13, while in the entire province the number reaches 251 cases .

48% of the intensive care beds in the cordillerana city, corresponding to those of the Zonal Ramón Carrillo Hospital and two sanatoriums, are occupied, reported Mercedes Iberó, secretary of Public Health Policies.
