France, the cathedral of Nantes burns

The flames inside the Gothic cathedral of Nantes were tamed. French firefighters announce it. A violent fire broke out inside the church this morning.

    The Gothic cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul of Nantes, which has already suffered serious damage from the bombings of 1944 and a roof fire in 1972, was completed only in 1891, after 457 years of work. The factory was in fact started in 1434 by the Duke of Brittany John V in the 'flamboyant' Gothic style in vogue then.
    Since 1862 the cathedral of the town on the Loire has been declared a historical monument by the French government. Its central nave is several meters higher than that of Notre-Dame de Paris, devastated two and a half years ago by a fire.
