The coronavirus crisis has not slowed the development of “pet-sitting”. However, confinement did have an effect on childcare rates.


Each summer, the same hassle begins again for pet owners who go on vacation: keep their dog and cat while they are away. In recent years, a solution has been developed: pet-sitting or animal care between individuals, whose development of the coronavirus has not slowed the development.

According to the annual barometer produced by Yoopies, one of the operators on the market which offers this new service, the number of "pet-sitting" announcements in June jumped 19% compared to the same month of 2019.

Up to 22.92 euros per day

Containment however had an effect on childcare tariffs, down 5.73% over one year, from 11.70 to 11.03 euros per day in France. While the national average is declining, large disparities still exist between regions and cities. It will thus cost 11.84 euros per day to an owner in Paca to keep his dog or his cat, against 10.06 euros in Pays de la Loire or 10.62 euros in Hauts-de-France.
