Posthumous effect or not, it achieves the best start of the year - so far owned by The Weeknd's After Hours - with 508,000 sales in one week. By way of comparison, the two rap giants us, Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG, achieved 549,000 and 690,000 sales respectively with their posthumous RU albums Still Down (1997) and Life After Death (1997).
With these numbers, Juice Wrld tops the Billboard 200 chart, ahead of Post Malone and Pop Smoke. He thus enters the very closed club of nine artists who have achieved this feat alongside legends such as John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Prince, Michael Jackson or Ray Charles.
The album was so eagerly awaited, that on July 10, the day of its release, the music streaming services Spotify and Apple Music ceased to function due to too many simultaneous listenings.
After this resounding success, other projects around Juice Wrld are in preparation. New posthumous albums should see the light of day according to Ally Lotti, the rapper's girlfriend. A documentary should also be broadcast in the coming months.
