(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 22 - Australia has recorded a record 501 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, almost four months after the peak of the Pandemic in the country: over 96% of cases are reported in the State of Victoria, where the authority they have been struggling with a large outbreak in Melbourne for days.
The previous peak in Australia, of 459 cases, was stator-registered on March 28 and in the following weeks the authorities had begun to ease the strict restrictions imposed to combat the pandemic.
Victoria's Premier Daniel Andrews has reported that two additional deaths and 484 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the state in the past 24 hours, a figure that brings the balance of active contagion to over 3,400.
According to the Johns Hopkins University count, Australia now has 12,894 cases of the virus, including 128 deaths. (HANDLE).
