(ANSA) - WARSAW, JULY 25 - The government of Warsaw will begin the cancellation process of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) next Monday. This was announced today by MinisterGuardasigilli Zbigniew Ziobro. In a press conference, Ziobro explained that according to him the Convention, launched in 2011 and signed by Poland a year later, contains "ideological concepts" not shared by the current Polish executive, including the one on "socio-cultural" sex as opposed to "organic" sex. Ziobro has ensured that the Polish law in force protects "women's rights" in an exemplary way and thus responds to all the requirements imposed by the Istanbul Convention. In response to the government's decision, the demonstrations of Polish women who had decided that the executive's decision would negatively affect the situation of women, especially in the family, had taken place in Warsaw and 20 cities in the country.
