The global toll of coronavirus cases exceeded the 16 million mark this morning: this is what emerges from the accounts of Johns Hopkins University. According to data from the American university, infections in the world reached 16,046,986, including 644,528 deaths. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 9,262,520 people have healed.

UNITED STATES - 68,212 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in the United States in the last 24 hours. It is the new budget released by Johns Hopkins University. Thus, the number of positive cases in the country rose to 4,174,437. The number of victims is stable at 146,391, of which 1,067 in the last 24 hours.

BRAZIL - Brazil recorded 51,147 new cases of coronavirus yesterday: this is the fourth consecutive day that in the country the infections exceed 50,000 in just 24 hours. According to the data of the Ministry of Health, reports the CNN, the overall balance of infections thus rises to 2.39 million. At the same time, there were an additional 1,211 deaths, totaling 86,449 victims since the pandemic began. For Brazil, this was a record week, with 321,623 new cases, the ministry stressed.

CHILE - Chile has recorded over 9,000 deaths caused by coronaviurs, a budget that exceeds 13,000 including also the deaths related to probable cases of Covid-19: the Ministry of Health of the country has announced, which has also decided to count the people "likely" to die from the virus in line with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. Overall, there are 9,020 confirmed deaths (of which 106 in the last 24 hours), to which are added 4,183 probably due to the virus, for a total of 13,203 compared to 343,592 cases (of which 2,287 in the last 24 hours).

NORTH KOREA - North Korea has announced that it has identified the first "suspect case" of Covid-19. This was announced by the KCNA agency, adding that it is a person who fled to South Korea in the past and recently returned to the country. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un convened an emergency politburo meeting to examine the situation.

INDIA - The number of coronavirus deaths in India has exceeded 32,000: this is what emerges from the count of Johns Hopkins University.
