(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 26 - The Spanish government is negotiating with the British government to exclude the islands - the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands - from the list of places from which travelers must undergo quarantine upon entering the United Kingdom, thus restricting the measure to arrivals from Spain alone continental, to save tourism. This was stated by the Foreign Minister of Spain, Arancha González Laya, quoted by El Mundo.
London in fact imposed quarantine yesterday as an Alpine response to coronavirus infections in Spain, especially in Catalonia. Laya, writes el Mundo, expressed optimism that London would revise its positions on the islands.
The British tour operator Tui has meanwhile canceled trips to mainland Spain until 9 August, but not to the Balearic and Canary Islands. (HANDLE).
