He was considered a fashion pioneer in Japan. Creator Kansai Yamamoto died of leukemia at the age of 76 on Monday. He was notably known for his collaborations with David Bowie.
"He left this world in peace, surrounded by those he loved," his daughter Mirai Yamamoto announced on Instagram.
"In my eyes, my father was not only the energetic and electric person the world knew, but also a caring, caring and affectionate being," she wrote on the social network.
Kansai Yamamoto was known for his daring designs that defied gender norms and featured vibrant colors and edgy designs.

"I found David's aesthetic and his eagerness to transcend the boundaries of the genre to be terribly beautiful," he told The Cut in 2018.

Kansai Yamamoto's designs often drew on elements of Japanese culture, such as the capes covered with Japanese characters (kanji) he designed for David Bowie.
