(ANSA) - BOLOGNA, JULY 29 - There is a 'Gomorra-New Edition', restoration and director's cut version of Matteo Garron's cult, who won the Jury Grand Prix in 2008 at the Cannes festival, taken from the best seller by Roberto Saviano. It will be presented for the first time in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna on Friday 21 August, the first stage of a journey that will lead to 'Towards IlCinema Ritrovato', the 34th edition of which is scheduled for 25 to 31 August. The director himself will present it to the public.
"The idea of getting our hands on Gomorrah - explains Garrone - was born following a projection I made with my son, who is the same age as the film: 12 years. Seeing him again with him, I often find myself having to explain dynamics that are not We were already talking about the story. Already this was not a good sign, when you arrived at a scene from the tailor's episode, Nicola asked me: 'Dad, but what's going on?'. I was watching the film with the eyes of the viewer, so many years had passed and I didn't remember anything anymore. So I found myself not understanding what was happening in that scene, and I replied: 'Love, I don't know.' 'But how, Dad? You did it!'. 'Yes, hairagione , but what can I tell you ... I don't know! '
This was the spring that pushed me to make dramaturgical passages clearer, without changing anything of the original structure. Many interventions we have made will be invisible to the viewer, but now the story is clearer and more fluid. "
The new edition of Gomorra in 4k was supervised by Garone between June and July 2020 (ANSA).
