The day that Alberto Fernández met with the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, and the head of the Buenos Aires government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, to define the future of the quarantine, the Ministry of Health of the Nationreported a double record on Thursday: 153 new deaths and 6,377 cases of coronavirus across the country.

With these numbers, the number of infected amounts to 185,373 , since the pandemic reached the country; while the number of deceased reaches 3,441.

Of the total registered cases, 69% correspond to the province of Buenos Aires, where 4,415 infected were reported. Again, the second district in number of cases was the City of Buenos Aires, with 1,239.

The report recorded that of the 153 deceased, 78 were men, 54 residing in the province of Buenos Aires; 22 in the City of Buenos Aires (CABA); 1 in Mendoza; 1 in Santa Cruz; and 76 women; 63 from the province of Buenos Aires; 10 from the City of Buenos Aires (CABA); 1 in Córdoba and 2 in Río Negro.

The virus case fatality rate remains at 1.8%, well below the 3.9% registered on average by the rest of the continent. On the other hand, the general mortality reaches 72 people for every million inhabitants, being 75 years the average age of victims of the virus in the country.

As has been the case for a few weeks, the report also shows the percentage of occupancy of intensive care beds. For example, in the total Nation there is 55.3% while in the AMBA it is 64.5%.

The ranking of the number of infected people of the day is completed by Jujuy (161), Chaco (93), Río Negro (81), Mendoza (77), Santa Fe (50), among the provinces with the most positives.

During Wednesday, 15,812 new samples were made and since the start of the outbreak, 690,823 diagnostic tests were carried out for this disease, which is equivalent to 15,224.2 samples per million inhabitants.

The Secretary of Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti, specified that "America is the epicenter of the pandemic at this time" and reiterated that "in Argentina the epicenter is the AMBA" , but warned that "there are places where there were no cases and now Yes there are, and the situation is more diverse in different jurisdictions. "

It refers to cases such as those of Córdoba or Jujuy, where until weeks ago there were few cases and most of them imported.

The health ministry released the new data after the meeting held by President Alberto Fernández with the committee of medical experts who advise him. In the afternoon, he met with the head of the Buenos Aires government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and with the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof,  to define how to continue the quarantine.

In recent days, record numbers of cases have been presented in the country, however experts assure that the peak of the pandemic in Argentina has not yet been reached.

Argentina passes week 18 in quarantine with the gradual opening of some shops and activities in the Federal Capital and Greater Buenos Aires. On the other hand, the world is beginning to see positive results in the test of a possible vaccine against the virus.
