Carlos Villagrán, who gave life to the character of "Quico" in the series "El Chavo del 8", confessed an experience that very few knew.

The Mexican television series "El Chavo del 8", launched in 1971, became famous throughout Latin America for several decades, and its characters were widely recognized.

One of them is "Quico", who was played by the actor Carlos Villagrán , who gave a recent interview to the América TV network in Argentina, where he confessed an experience that very few knew.

This is the occasion when the Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Escobar wanted to hire his services to liven up his daughter's birthday party.

According to Villagrán, it all happened on one of his trips to Colombia to work in his circus, where he was approached by workers from the famous capo to play the friend of "El Chavo" in exchange for a considerable sum of money.

"I was at the Tequendama hotel in Bogotá when they called me from the reception. They tell me: 'There are three people who want to talk to you.' I thought they were journalists," he said.

"They came up, we introduced ourselves, they had a portfolio in hand, they opened it and took out a checkbook, they put it on a coffee table, they opened it. They told me; 'Tomorrow is the birthday of our employer's daughter, he wants me to you act, put the number you want, up to a million dollars, "added the Mexican humorist.

However, he explained that to avoid the proposal, he argued that his employment contract prevented him from making presentations other than those that had taken him to that country.

"My body froze, I did not expect such a thing. It occurred to me to tell them that I had a clause in which I said that I could do nothing more than what I came to, they respected me, they closed the checkbooks, they closed the briefcase, They said goodbye to me and left. I suppose they were Pablo Escobar's people, "he said.

In addition, he confessed that this meeting caused him great paranoia, to the extent of having to leave Colombia before the estimated time.

"Having refused, I became very scared shortly after, because every day they took me on different roads to the circus and daily they brought me on different roads, different streets to the hotel," he said.

"More or less on the third day I tell them 'I am leaving because I am terribly afraid, they are going to shoot me for having refused and I prefer to return, I will return another time,'" he added. Finally, he noted that a few years later he returned to that country and had no further incident in this regard.

During the interview, he was also questioned about the alleged performances of the cast of "El Chavo del 8" before Escobar, in which they had received large amounts of money.

In this regard, Villagrán replied, "It was the entire group of 'El Chavo del 8' except me; I was already outside the group, they did work for Pablo Escobar."
