(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 31 - The WHO emergency committee is meeting today to take stock of the coronavirus pandemic to evaluate whether to maintain the maximum alert state decreed six months ago.
The group, made up of 20 people from representatives of member countries and experts, should also propose new recommendations or amend existing ones.
With 17 million people infected by Covid-19 and over 660,000 victims, it is very likely that the highest alarm level, the worldwide dipandemic (or Public Health Emergency of International Concern, PHEIC) will be confirmed at the meeting today. In recent months, the UN agency has been accused of having declared the alert too late and for having suggested contradictory and late recommendations. (HANDLE).
