Coronavirus in Argentina: 53 deaths and another 5,241 positive cases reported in the last 24 hours

The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Saturday another 53 deaths and 5,241 new cases of coronavirus in the country.

In its morning report, the health portfolio reported the death of 15 people: 10 men (five residents in the province of Buenos Aires, three in the City of Buenos Aires and two in La Rioja) and five women (two from the Province and three from Federal capital).

According to official information, the mortality rate in Argentina is 78 people per million inhabitants and the case fatality rate stands at 1.9% of confirmed cases. The average age of fatalities is 75 years.

The Ministry of Health also detailed that 15,442 new samples were made on Friday and since the start of the outbreak 722,950 diagnostic tests for this disease have already been carried out, which is equivalent to 15,932.2 samples per million inhabitants.

The incidence rate is 422 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Argentina and the median age is 40 years.

At the head of the daily report on the evolution of the pandemic in the country, the Secretary of Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti , said that the number of occupations of intensive care beds "remains stable" due to the increase in places.

The official stressed that the percentage of confirmed cases in the AMBA is decreasing and noted that the increase in infections in places where they were not registered in recent weeks because they "had an outbreak by conglomerate and began to have community transmission" of the virus.
