The institute predicts a general drop in temperatures from Sunday. Thirteen departments are placed in orange vigilance by Météo France, this Saturday afternoon, because of the heatwave, while five are also because of thunderstorms.
In its national bulletin, Météo France refers to an “intense heat peak […] from the Rhône to Savoies”. Concretely, the Côte-d'Or, the Saône-et-Loire, the Jura, the Doubs, the Loire, the Rhône, the Ain, the Haute-Savoie, the Savoie, the Isère, the Drôme, the Ardèche and Haute-Loire are concerned.
The meteorological institute also warns the populations about phenomena "violent but of short duration", such as strong gusts of wind, hail and strong intensities of rain in the Ardèche, Drôme, the Isère, the Loire and the Rhône, which will shift towards the Loire then the Rhône valley.
In the evening, these phenomena should go east of Rhône-Alpes but will gradually lose their violent character. The end of the event is scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday.
