"Shall we have a video?" Here is a question which entered at lightning speed in the vocabulary of confined France, alongside “cluster”, “barrier gesture” or “social distancing”. Cloistered at home, the French quickly sought a way to maintain a bond with their loved ones. Salvation has come from applications for making video calls to several people, such as Messenger, Houseparty or WhatsApp. Their downloads and use have skyrocketed to exchange news, celebrate birthdays or organize parties remotely. "We have never done so many role-playing games with friends as during confinement, thanks to the video", remembers Stéphane, teacher. The weekend aperitif-visio, each with their drink behind their screen, has become an institution. “From March to June, we met up with my friends every Saturday night on Houseparty. No one has ever missed the call ” , abounds Pierre-Hugues, student.
