A laboratory worker at a large hospital in the center of the country who is positive for Corona boarded a "Turkish Airlines" flight from Tel Aviv to Istanbul and from there continued to Ukraine. The same worker, suffered from symptoms of the disease and has not yet recovered from it, but did not inform anyone of his intention to leave the country. The case has been reported to the police and he may now face a prison sentence for knowingly spreading a disease.
The Israeli embassy in Ukraine, as well as the authorities in Israel and Ukraine are involved in the details of the case, as well as the Turkish Airlines airline.
The incident occurred at a time when the Ministry of Health insists on not allowing corona tests for those boarding flights, while quite a few countries around the world require or allow this.
This is not the first time an Israeli who is supposed to be in isolation has left the country. Last month it was reported that a northern resident was required in isolation following contact with a verified patient, but boarded a flight to Turkey where he was diagnosed with the virus.
Earlier today, Corona Commissioner Prof. Roni Gamzo called on the public to be tested in case of onset of symptoms of the virus. In a video posted by Prof. Gamzo, he said that the test is critical for the purpose of stopping the plague. According to him, this may reduce the duration of isolation.
Meanwhile, according to Ministry of Health data released tonight, 1,090 new infections have been diagnosed since midnight. There are currently 26,005 active patients in Israel. 331 of the patients are defined as in critical condition and 99 are respiratory. Since the outbreak of the plague in Israel, 546 people who have contracted the virus have died.
