(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 04 - The number of Britons who emigrate to EU member countries has increased by 30% since the vote on Brexit and half have decided to move in the first three months after the referendum. The Guardian wrote it, citing a recent study.
The analysis of OECD and Eurostat data shows on average, between 2005 and 2015, 56,832 British left the United Kingdom each year for one of the countries of the European Union, in the period between 2016 and 2018 that number grew to 73,642 per year . Lostudio - conducted by the Universirtà of Oxford in Berlin and the Center of Spciali Sciences in Berlin, also shows an increase of 500% among those who after the transfer acquired the citizenship of an EU country. In Germany in particular, the increase was 2000%, with the naturalization of 31,600 Brits from the Brexit referendum.
"The increase recorded is of a size that can be expected when a country is hit by a major political or economic crisis," explained Daniel Auer, co-author of the study.
