Normal moments swept away in a moment. The noise, 'as if it were an earthquake', after the explosion, the screams of the five grandchildren who were playing on the balcony and the front door that literally flies away. (HANDLE)

(by Emanuela De Crescenzo) (ANSA) - ROME, AUG 05 - Attimidi normality swept away in a moment. The noise, 'as if it were an earthquake', after the explosion, the screams of the five grandchildren were playing on the balcony and the front door that will literally go away. It is the account of an operator of Save theChildren of the terrifying yesterday of the two devastating explosions in Beirut. "I had just left the office, I was back home and thinking about the many things I still had to do. My five grandchildren playing on the balcony as on any day. Then I heard a noise, a roar, as if it were an earthquake. They were terrified, the children screamed , Miasorella wanted to run away, but the front door is literally eased away, "says Nour Wahid, a 26-year-old who has worked for Save the Children for five years and mainly occupies support activities for Syrian children who have been sheltered in the country." We heard people scream, we heard cries coming from far away. the second explosion has arrived, the devastating one.
It all came down, the windows shattered, around completely destroyed buildings. In the street, so many people lying on the ground, injured. Screams and fright everywhere. Our house has also been badly damaged and now we don't even know where to go. My grandchildren were all injured, luckily in a mild way - he told us - We ran to the hospital but it was caototal and they told us that we could not bring them in because there were too many iferites and they had to give priority to the most serious conditions "." It was devastating. Not hoparole - he adds - to describe what happened. I feel enormous pain and think of the thousands of people who have everything, who no longer have a home. Whole families who don't know where to go anymore. I do humanitarian work and every day I am used to dealing with suffering, especially of children and their families, but what happened exceeds all imagination. In Lebanon we are used to not complaining, we are used to having to fight every single day, but what happened is devastating for everyone. "Yesterday the explosion, the screams, the sirens, today in the city there is only silence." The only noise - he says The collaborator of Save The Children - is the one who tries to repair their homes. There is big sadness around. People need help but at the same time everyone wants to cry alone. I'm still left. I just think I'm lucky to be still alive.
I think of my colleague who remained in the office and who could die when the window came off right on his desk. "And then a last bitter consideration:" People are speechless, people are resigned. They are all in shock, they don't believe what happened. After the economic crisis and the Covid, now also this tragedy ". (ANSA).
