Budelli: 60 thousand signatures to help the caretaker stay on the island

Almost 60 thousand signatures in 2 days to ask the Minister of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea, Sergio Costa, to keep the guardian hermit of Budelli, Mauro Morandi on the island known for its pink beach. The petition has been launched on the charge.org platform and continues to receive subscriptions.

The 80-year-old Morandi, for over thirty years the solitary guardian of the island on behalf of the old property, is today considered a tenant without any title of a state property.

And now that the National Park of the Archipelago of La Maddalena has started the remediation and cleaning which will have to be followed by the removal of illegal works by creating an observatory, the guardian will have to pack up. "I am ready to do everything possible to stay here, even if it means that they will have to drag me away. I would not know where else to go to live, nor what to do. This is my life. I simply do not see myself playing cards or bowls": it was the last desperate appeal of the 81 year old.
