(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 05 - The Australian state of Victoria has recorded 725 coronavirus cases and 15 deaths in 24 hours: state premier Daniel Andrews has made it known, according to CNN reports.
The new, heavy, daily trend comes in the third day of a six-week lockdown announced by Andrews last Sunday.
Of the total new infections, 164 known afocolai have been linked, while investigations are underway to determine the origins of the remaining cases. In addition, twelve of the 15 new deaths are related to rest homes. One of the new victims, said the premier, was a man in his thirties.
Nationally, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, Australia records 19,445 infections and 247 deaths.
