Sergio Zavoli , master of television journalism, has died  . He was 96 years old. Father of historical programs such as La notte della Repubblica, he was radio commentator, co-director of the news, director of the GR, president of Rai from 1980 to 1986, author of investigations that have marked history.

Born in Ravenna in 1923, Sergio Zavoli had joined Rai in 1947 as a radio journalist. The transition to TV in 1968: Zavoli devised highly successful broadcasts such as TV7, AZ, Controcampo; the following year he became co-director of the Newscast and then again director of Gr1 (1976) and president of Rai (1980-86). Zavoli was also editor of Mattino di Napoli (1993-94) and signed as a columnist for various magazines such as Oggi, Epoca, Jesus.

Senator from 2001 to 2018, in 2009 he was elected president of the parliamentary commission for the supervision of Rai. Sergio Zavoli has written essays, such as Journey around the man (1969), Birth of a dictatorship (1973), The night of the Republic (1992), related to his successful television broadcasts.

He also published Ten Years of Our Life: 1935-1945 (1960); Another twenty years of our life: 1945-65 (1965); Children of the labyrinth (1974); Socialist of God (1981); Romance (1987); At this rate (1993); A cautious look (1995); Cancer dossier (1999); The useless pain (2002); Diary of a chronicler (2002); The question: eclipse of God and history (2007). In 2011 Sergio Zavoli published the autobiographical book The boy I was; his endless production also involved poetry. Among the television programs: Viaggio nel sud (1992); Our mistress television (1994); Believe, not believe (1995), from which a volume (1997) was taken. Tomorrow there will be the burial chamber, probably in the Senate, then it will be buried in Rimini.
