The coronavirus pandemic does not stop pages like Amazon, eBay, Tiendamia or Wish, which offer the possibility of bringing products to Argentina from anywhere in the world . That is why, even without tourism, spending in dollars grows. But you have to know some keys before buying abroad to avoid surprises in the summary of the card .

It is that the COUNTRY Tax (the 30% that on the expenses with card in foreign currency or to subjects from abroad), requires verifying if the site chosen for the purchase contemplates it or not . For example, Amazon does not, and it is seen directly in the credit card summary as a separate charge. But in other places, like Tiendamia, it is already included

Why do you keep buying online abroad? There are two central reasons: saving a large amount of money , if the purchase is smart, or getting products that are not in any gondola or showroom in the country.

An example of non-smart buying? Search foreign pages for low-value items, as shipping can result in an even more expensive purchase than the benefit of low price. A smart one? Find more expensive items: technology, of course, but also from makeup to professional office supplies. There the cost difference is key.

This is the case of Amazon, eBay and B&H Photo-Video -the furor pages- offer door-to-door shipments , as established by AFIP. Only an international credit card is required and transactions are made in foreign currency. The change to Argentine pesos is executed at the time the card is closed , according to the price of the day.

Keep in mind, however, that there is the possibility of paying expenses directly in dollars and thus avoid paying the tax. The key is to make the payment between the closing date and the expiration date of the summary, since otherwise the dollar is paid at a "solidarity" price, today above $ 100 (each bank's retail dollar plus 30%).

The price of this recharged dollar is, strictly speaking, at $ 99.78, based on the official dollar of $ 76.75. But entities each have their own retail price, above that value.

Buy abroad with door to door delivery

The door-to-door purchasing system allows you to buy products abroad and receive them at home by Correo Argentino. Also, collect them at the branch with the closest customs control.

Through this system, AFIP also allows you to use the services of International Courier, under the modality of a small shipment system.

What can be purchased through the door-to-door system?  Books, non-perishable groceries, clothing, toys, technology, decorative objects, among other categories of articles. But as long as they do not weigh more than 20 kilos, they do not cost more than US $ 3,000 and are for personal and non-commercial use.

Credit card, PayPal system membership, DineroMail or Western Union, among other means of payment are required to make purchases abroad. In addition, CUIL or CDI, and national or foreign ID and be registered in the Argentine Mail Portal.

When it reaches? According to the Infoviajera portal, "if you buy online in the version of Amazon you want (those in Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany are working very well for this), you pay with your credit card, in 5 to 10 days you receive the package in your house and you don't have to pay anyone else. " But in July, as he clarifies, Amazon was only delivering notebooks. On Amazon, unlike pages like Wish (which does not sell legal technology but low-cost general items and small "trick" devices) the fees are low and VAT is not paid. In the case of Tiendamia, a page that works as an integrator, the amount is pesified and frozen when closing the transaction.
